Outpatient Rehabilitation

Outpatient therapy may occur immediately following the child’s release from the hospital, or, in cases where moderate to severe injury has occurred, it may follow a period of time spent in inpatient rehabilitation. Outpatient rehabilitation may be needed for a finite time, or it may need to occur throughout the child’s lifetime.

Outpatient rehabilitation can occur at a facility that specializes in this kind of treatment, or it can take place at home in individual therapy sessions. Outpatient rehabilitation may include physical, mental, and social programs, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, recreational therapy, stress release and relaxation, counseling/psychotherapy, and alternative therapies.
