Education

One of every parent’s jobs is to ensure that their child gets the education they deserve. If you have a child with special needs, you will need to learn how to navigate the education system to ensure that your child’s particular educational needs are met through special education services.

When all is said and done school is most likely the biggest provider of services to children with special needs. Parents of kids with brain injury and special needs should educate themselves on the following:

• The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
• Individualized Education Plans (IEP)
• Free Appropriate Education
• The Rehabilitation Act of 1973

Schools must adhere to particular guidelines and requirements when it comes to educating kids with special needs. If you feel your child is not getting the education that he deserves and needs, an attorney who specializes in advocating for kids with special needs can help. Please click on the above sections to learn more about special education, and contact us for more information.
